How is Blepharoplasty Procedure performed?
Anesthesia
Medications are administered for your convenience during a surgical procedure under local anesthesia or under general anesthesia, according to your wishes.
The incision and operation
In blepharoplasty surgery, the excess skin, muscular and adipose tissue of the eyelid are excised. Then these structures are anatomically closed one by one.
The upper eyelid can be corrected through an incision within the natural crease on the eyelid. This allows for removal or repositioning of fat deposits, tightening of muscles and removal of excess skin.
On the lower lid, the surgeon makes a cut just below the lashes in your eye’s natural crease or inside the lower lid. Again, the excess fat can be repositioned or removed and closes the cut.
If the patient is suffering from volume-less eyelids instead of sagging eyelids, then fat is injected under the skin to help the eyelids regain their volume and firmness. This method is known as non surgical blepharoplasty.
Closing the incisions and completion of operation
Incisions are closed with thin sutures. Over time the incision and suture lines will fade.
